David began his career with Perpetual Trustee as a Portfolio Manager in 1980 before being recruited by JB Were & Son (Goldman Sachs JB Were), where he worked for over 17 years, starting in institutional dealing and research before being appointed Head of Technical Analysis, where he was responsible for providing analysis on both local and international markets to Australia’s top institutions and most recognisable fund managers.

After leaving Goldman Sachs JB Were, David spent several years as an independent consultant, contributing daily investment analysis as part of a small and exclusive panel of approved researchers to Fidelity Investments - one of the world’s largest asset managers – and NewEdge Group, one of the world’s largest futures brokers.

David is among Asia-Pacific’s leading experts on price analysis. He has twice been voted the No.2 Technical Analyst in Australia and is also an accomplished educator and presenter; he has presented to over 15,000 people on price analysis, including as a guest speaker for the Australian and Singapore stock exchanges.

Pete has been a long-term mentee of David Vassallo's method. Those years of price analysis experience, combined with a strong passion for exponential technologies, led to his discovery of the inherent synergies between the two and the founding of KPI-AI.

Chairman of KPI-AI’s board, Pete provides day-to-day executive leadership of the business. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Commerce and Law, a Diploma of Financial Services, and experience as an Australian Financial Services License Responsible Manager.

A keen surfer, skier and dad in his now limited downtime, Pete has extensive management experience in boutique entrepreneurial ventures specialising in alternative investment products, with a business and strategy development focus.

Dan was a non-executive director at KPI-AI from 2018 but joined the team full-time in Q3 2020 after leaving QIC Limited, where he spent almost seven years in QIC’s Risk Management Group. From January 2018 to September 2020, he was in Los Angeles as QIC’s Regional Head of Risk Management for the US. He held dual roles as QIC’s US Chief Compliance Officer (CCO USA) and Senior Manager, Private Market Risk.

In Dan’s capacity as CCO USA, he had regulatory accountability for $7bn in AUM. In addition to managing ongoing compliance, he led regulatory change initiatives, including QIC’s direct engagement with the US Department of Treasury (in cooperation with the Australian Embassy in the US) to advocate for positive regulatory outcomes affecting foreign investment into the US.

As a Senior Manager reporting to QIC’s Global Head of Private Markets Risk, Dan oversaw the risk management of QIC’s US investments. This included private equity and infrastructure investments, along with a multi-billion dollar retail real estate portfolio which was subjected to extraordinary challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and recent civil unrest.

Dan began his financial services career as a trader and risk analyst with the KPI group in 2005. He became increasingly involved in designing and implementing risk and portfolio management strategies, ultimately taking executive responsibility to manage all risk across the business. This included regulatory and operational risks in addition to the elevated market risks posed to the company’s investment portfolios through the tumult of 2008’s global financial crisis.

An accomplished musician with his own Byron Bay studios, Dan holds down not only a mean rhythm but also Bachelor degrees in Law and Arts, in addition to a Diploma in Financial Services.

He has held commercial leadership roles in start-ups, private and public companies in Europe, the USA and Asia-Pacific.

Keith started his career at Logica Finance in The Netherlands and worked for over 10 years on trading floors across the world, deploying digital trading and risk management systems. He then ran Solution Sales for Reuters in EMEA for several years. Keith moved to Australia and was Regional Vice President at TIBCO in Australia & New Zealand for 9 years.

Keith was formerly Chief Product Officer at WANdisco Plc, a publicly listed enterprise software company specialising in BigData and Cloud with dual headquarters in the UK and California.

He is a director of Kapital-K Investments Pty Ltd and Senex-Capital BV. He also serves on the advisory board of Semantic Software Asia Pacific Pty Ltd (Cognitive AI) and is trustee of Two Monkey’s Foundation. Keith has an MA in Management Science and Information Systems from Trinity College Dublin and further post-graduate certificates including one in “AI :Implications for Business Strategy” from MIT Computer Science and AI Laboratory- CSAIL.

Keith is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD)and a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).

Denis is a software engineer with a background in developing real-time automated decision systems. He provides a unique skill set to the team with a strong foundation in software engineering, computer science and mathematical optimisation. Denis uses these skills to leverage our expert price analysis to implement automated trading algorithms within KPI-AI’s platform.

KPI-AI’s technology journey began with simple plugins and 3rd party platforms and has grown to now leverage the latest in cloud technology and software engineering principles on KPI-AI’s proprietary platform. Denis has executed many of the integrations as the platform has matured, focusing on ensuring the technology fulfills business requirements and objectives, including managing technology-based risks. These platforms were developed with timely input from internal stakeholders, allowing for custom configuration and feedback.

Prior to joining KPI AI, Denis implemented automated decision systems for Caterpillar Inc.’s (CAT) MineStar system to optimise the utility of mining trucks. Working with the customers at various mine sites around the world and support teams, Denis rearchitected the algorithm to remove inefficiencies, resulting in a 60x increase in “uptime”. Furthermore, Denis also applied Computer Science principles in high numerical computing to optimise the algorithm for sites up to 150 trucks, doubling the original capacity. This algorithm is still in use across more than 80 mining sites across the world. This experience was core to Denis’s understanding of how to leverage the heuristics of experts to develop software that improves upon their own decision process – a cornerstone of KPI-AI’s development methodology.

Before CAT, Denis implemented automated scheduling algorithms for Skedulo, including healthcare applications, inpatient care, security, and customer scheduling. He also has experience with statistical reporting for government departments and media, including the Department of Transport and Main Roads, where he prepared and analysed road crash data using VBA, MapInfo and SQL.

Throughout his career, David has focused on delivering technology-driven financial solutions that enhance risk management, improve operational efficiency, and drive profitability. His expertise in financial markets, particularly in market risk and portfolio optimisation, has allowed him to lead complex digital transformation projects that integrate cutting-edge technologies with financial strategies.

Over the past 15 years, David has led major financial and technological initiatives at Shell Australia and National Australia Bank, where he has been instrumental in building and managing agile teams, modernising financial systems, and implementing innovative portfolio design strategies. His leadership ensures the seamless integration of digital products and financial solutions that meet the evolving demands of global markets.

With a deep understanding of financial modeling, risk assessment, and capital management, David continues to drive large-scale, high-impact projects that position organisations for sustained financial success in an increasingly digital world.
